L’isolement dans un espace infini
choreographic installation for one dancer
CHOREOGRAPHER’S NOTE
L’Isolement dans un Espace Infini, is an immersion in the routes of a stream of consciousness, suggesting a reflection on the theme of the existence. I worked on questions and problematics concerning to human’s isolation in modern urban society and concerning to the seclusion in which the others impose us, or even what we chose to impose on ourselves. I decided to approach the human existence isolated in space and time, as a continuous trip which is carried out eternally inside a room. A symbolic projection of being in space: an infinite space, something empty, something untouchable. Subjected to complex movements and constant changes, the performer designs geometrical lines which are transformed gradually into a spasmodic dance. In these plays of imbalances, a human figure comes to slip, to discover his second skin and seek relationship between his existence and the whole existence, the bonds between here and elsewhere.
ABSTRACT
Solo but not all alone
The contemporary original music of George Kouvaras, which alternates with silence, and recorded music, wants to have a physical impact on the audience. It does not maintain only an apparent report of impulse, it seems to want to go very far, to an organic point of meeting. Silence also, suggests and says without saying and will make possible to detect an interior presence. In this performance, dance, music and silence, creates physical spaces, where the gestures, lights and sounds, want to give an acoustic and visual vibration to the atmosphere. They are initially desired first for their vibratory quality and then for what they represent. L’ Isolement dans un Espace Infini, is thus, a meditative performance in which it is important not to seek to understand what the choreography represents, but initially to call upon the subconscious.
